Short answer
For everyday work and study, buy a laptop with at least 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a current-generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor. Expect to pay $500–$750 in Lebanon. Only pay more if you need a dedicated graphics card for gaming, video editing, or 3D work.
How much RAM do you actually need?
16GB is the practical minimum for a laptop bought in 2026. 8GB still boots and runs, but modern browsers, Teams or Zoom, and a couple of applications together will exhaust it, and most thin laptops solder their memory to the board so you cannot upgrade later.
32GB is worth paying for only if you run virtual machines, edit video, or compile large projects. For browsing, office work, and study it makes no measurable difference.
Which processor should you look for?
An Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 from the current or previous generation handles everything most buyers do. Core i7 and Ryzen 7 are worth the premium for sustained heavy work — rendering, large builds, simulation — not for faster web browsing.
Check the generation, not just the tier. A current Core i5 will out-perform a Core i7 that is four years old, and older stock is common in Lebanon.
SSD or hard drive?
Always an SSD. It is the single largest contributor to how fast a laptop feels. 512GB suits most people; 256GB fills up quickly once Windows and applications are installed.
If a laptop still ships with a mechanical hard drive at this price point, treat it as a warning about the rest of the specification.
What should you spend?
Under $400 buys a basic machine for browsing and documents — expect 8GB of RAM and a modest processor. $500–$750 is the value bracket where 16GB, a 512GB SSD, and a current i5/Ryzen 5 come together.
$900 and above is where dedicated graphics, higher-refresh screens, and better build quality start to appear. Below that, a 'gaming' label usually means a sticker rather than the hardware.
What people forget to check
Screen resolution: 1920×1080 should be the floor. 1366×768 panels are still sold and are noticeably cramped.
Ports: if the laptop has only USB-C, budget for an adapter. Warranty: buy locally so a repair does not mean shipping the machine abroad.

Common questions
Is 8GB of RAM enough for a laptop in 2026?
+
For light browsing and documents, 8GB still works. For anything more — many browser tabs, video calls alongside other applications, or photo editing — it is not enough, and most laptops cannot be upgraded later because the memory is soldered. Buy 16GB if the budget allows.
How much does a good laptop cost in Lebanon?
+
A well-specified everyday laptop — 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, current-generation Core i5 or Ryzen 5 — costs roughly $500 to $750 in Lebanon. Basic machines start near $350, and laptops with dedicated graphics generally begin around $900.
Should I buy a gaming laptop for normal work?
+
Usually not. Gaming laptops are heavier, run hotter, and have shorter battery life. Buy one only if you actually need the dedicated graphics card for gaming, video editing, or 3D work.
Do laptops bought in Lebanon come with warranty?
+
Laptops bought from Zaytoun Solutions carry a local warranty, which means repairs are handled in Lebanon rather than requiring the machine to be shipped abroad. Always confirm warranty terms before buying from any retailer.
